SPARK strives to improve the health of children and adolescents through evidence-based, physical education after-school programs serving K through 12th grade students. Fostering environmental and behavioral changes in youth through a highly active curriculum and content-matched equipment, SPARK’s philosophy is: include ALL youth, actively engage ALL youth, and instill the love of lifelong movement in ALL youth. No child sits on the sidelines during SPARK activities!
The SMART (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) Moves program is a nationally-acclaimed approach designed to sharpen critical-thinking skills necessary to avoid alcohol, tobacco, other substances, and premature sexual activity.
SMART Girls is a small-group health, fitness, education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the needs of girls in three age groups. Through dynamic sessions, interactive activities, field trips and mentoring opportunities with adult women, girls explore their own and societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
Passport to Manhood promotes responsibility in Club boys ages 8-17 through interactive activities that reinforce positive behavior. Each of the 14 sessions concentrates on a specific aspect of manhood and each participant receives his own “passport” to underscore that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth.
